What makes the secondary side of MVCS a truly unique educational experience is not the
recent addition of state-of-the-art Smartboards, which give our teachers the ability
to interact with the Internet for dramatic visual lessons. It’s not our athletic
program, which has won state titles in Basketball, Golf and Cheerleading. Nor is it
our commitment to academic excellence as demonstrated in standardized test scores that
are two years higher than the national average.
What makes the secondary side of MVCS unique is how each academic discipline is taught
under the banner of truth as revealed in the Word of God. This concept, known as
Biblical integration, manifests itself in History as the unfolding of God’s plan for
man, in Science as the study of His creation and majesty, in English as the expression
of divine thought, in Mathematics as a reflection of His steadfastness and order, and
in Bible as His revelation of Himself to us. Working in unison with our philosophy of
Biblical integration is our weekly chapels and daily Bible classes that further
enhance a Christian worldview.
Bringing the Biblical integration to our students is a wonderful collection of 22
gifted and talented men and women we like to call "difference makers".
Our teachers are professional educators who are on the cutting edge of their field as
evidenced by over a third pursuing or having received advanced degrees. A close 19:1
student to teacher ratio provides ample opportunity for interaction and the personal
attention that is critical as students prepare for college.
As a college preparatory school, our students are challenged to excel and to push
themselves academically. This dedication allows our seniors to have a vast array of
college choices as well as scholarship opportunities. Our graduates have gone on to
The Air Force Academy, Covenant College, Albert Einstein School of Medicine and
Pepperdine University, just to name a few.
In addition to the "core" content areas mentioned above, we offer Advanced Placement
classes in Calculus and English and a vast assortment of electives from which to
choose.
At MVCS we encourage the arts and were rewarded by having 2 of our high school
students selected to the all-state band and 2 mid school students selected to the all
city band. Electives in Band, Choir, Drama, and Art will continue to provide
opportunities for our students to showcase their talents.
Our theme for the 2007-2008 school year is "sowing seeds of greatness" which comes
from Proverbs 11:18 "he who sows seeds of righteousness reaps a sure reward". We want
to be planters of His Word in the hearts and lives of our students, knowing that the
Lord will be faithful to accomplish His purposes.
