Philosophy of Christian Education

“And Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and in stature, and in favor with God and men.” Luke2: 52
God’s goal for all people is that we should be like Jesus. God has given parents the very serious responsibility of helping their children strive toward this goal. Fortunately it is a goal we, as parents, do not have to try to reach on our own. We have not only the help of our Lord and Savior but also our brothers and sisters in Christ as we take on this awesome responsibility. As a teacher in the Christian school, I must do all I can to help parents in any way possible to direct their children toward Christ likeness.
Education is a very complicated process that starts at birth and never ends. My goal as a teacher is to help the parents with the mental, physical, social, and spiritual education of their children. I believe the best education a child can receive comes about when the teacher and parents work together to help educate the child in all areas of learning.

Teaching reading, math, and science are still very important to me. However, being able to teach these subjects with the Bible as the filter is a great opportunity to serve the Lord!

Philosophy of Christian Education

My philosophy of Christian Education is based on my years in both public and private education.  I attended a public school until I was a junior in high school.  I then attended a Christian school for my last two years.  I went on from there to a Christian college.  In all my years at the public school my parents were not very involved in my education.  They made sure I did my homework, however, that was as far as their participation went.  This was not because they did not care, but rather, that the home in our society is not an important institution and my parents were not encouraged to “train” me at home.
Once I began my years at the Christian school, my parents were encouraged to work with me and to “train” me not only in the academic areas, but also in God’s Word.  We read in II Timothy chapter one that Paul mentions Timothy’s mother, Eunice, and his grandmother, Lois.  These women were instrumental in training Timothy in God’s Word, and as there is no mention of a father it is likely that they also encouraged Timothy in High academic studies as well.  I believe that the family is the single most important influence in a child’s life.  As a parent I am quick to encourage other parents to spend time in God’s Word with their children.  As a teacher I desire to see parents who know what their children are studying and who take an active roll in reinforcing the concepts and principles in the classroom.

As a Christian teacher, I feel that it is my responsibility to reflect Christ to both my students and their families.  My desire is that my students learn not only the academic lessons I teach.

Education/Experience

Hi, my name Juli Zarate and I am teaching 4th grade. This year has been a lot of great firsts for me! I graduated in May 2007 from New Mexico State University with a Bachelors degree in Elementary education with an emphasis in Math. On June 8, 2007, I married my high school sweetheart, Roque Zarate.

Finally, this is my first year at Mesilla Valley Christian and I am loving it! I am looking forward to the exciting school year ahead and enjoying being a part of the MVCS family. Since I graduated from high school at Hope Christian in Albuquerque, I have had a desire to teach in a Christian school, to be able to share my faith and passion with my students as it was presented to me when I was in school.

Philosophy of Christian Education

I would like to leave you with a verse that is special to me and encouraging:
The Lord is my strength, my song, and my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise Him.

Philosophy of Christian Education
I have always believed that teaching children should be patterned after Luke 2:52, "And Jesus grew in wisdom, stature, and in favor with God and man."

Children need to grow physically, spiritually, socially and academically. My job as a teacher is to integrate these characteristics into our curriculum, realizing that even Jesus developed in these areas as a young boy. Most important is to see each child as a wanted child -  uniquely created  and personally loved by Christ. My desire is to see each child trust in God's provision for hope and life - Jesus Christ!

Eph. 2:6 - He took our sin-dead lives and made us alive in Christ. He did all this on his own, with no help from us! Then he picked us up and set us down in highest heaven in company with Jesus, our Messiah.
Eph. 2:7 - Now God has us where he wants us, with all the time in this world and the next to shower grace and kindness upon us in Christ Jesus.
