Philosophy of Christian Education The Lord heaved me into formal classroom education seven years ago after five years of home schooling; first as a 1st/2nd grade team-teacher, then teaching 2nd grade, and finally teaching art, drama, music, and Spanish to grades K-5. One week into team-teaching, I fell in love with all the kids, the opportunities for discovery, the atmosphere of being in the classroom, and I finally acknowledged God's plan for me as a teacher. I will always be a Christian educator, no matter where or for how long I teach. Being a vessel for His Spirit to shine in everything I say and do is a humbling honor, and I have learned the world's definition of "correctness" only darkens His light. I am thrilled to be teaching in an environment where I am free to apply Christ's wisdom to all aspects of a lesson, showing students of all ages how to have faith in God for every thing. As a Christian teacher, the Lord has made it my responsibility to emulate Christ to every person I meet. It is my prayer that any students I am privileged to teach are exposed not only to the academic lessons of that particular class, but also to the joy of a saving relationship with Jesus Christ while learning how to walk reflecting His Word. Teaching is like breathing to me. Being able to teach with the Bible as a filter is a glorious chance to serve my risen Savior!

Philosophy of Christian Education

God has given each of us gifts to use to build up the body of Christ and to show His love to those who don't know Him. I believe that God has given me the gift of teaching and I am delighted to see how He is using that gift at Mesilla Valley Christian Schools. Teaching our high school students requires more than lecturing and grading papers. Each of our students brings individual talents (gifts) and needs to our school. We teachers are here to do our part to train them in these talents and to meet these needs, both academic and spiritual. We do that best by genuinely loving them as we guide them through their daily lessons, praying for them regularly, lending a listening ear, and letting them know that they are truly precious to us.

Philosophy of Christian Education

A Christian educational philosophy naturally flows from a Christian worldview. It is founded on the truth that God established this universe which has been marred by sin. Believers are called to be co-workers with Christ in redeeming it back. All students who enter my classroom are made in the image of God and reflect many of His attributes. They are both physical and spiritual beings who have been created for a purpose that God is working out in their lives. Their education is to equip them for the good works God has prepared for them to do. Since all truth is God's truth, education must integrate the truth revealed in His Word with the truth revealed in His Creation. It is my privilege to assist in the process and be a sign post pointing towards the One who is Truth.

Philosophy of Christian Education

A Christian education should provide support for the family in the "training up of a child." It should make a child bold in the Lord - always keeping in mind Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." This promise provides a confidence and a freedom to go out into the world and be what God wants us to be, knowing that he will never fail us.
As educators, it is our responsibility to guide students not only academically, but to help them put on "the full armor of the Lord" so that when they leave our care they will be ready for whatever battles life may offer.As a Spanish teacher I consider it a privilege to work with your children and to encourage them to "Vaya con Dios" in all things.

Philosophy of Christian Education

I came to know the Lord while attending New Mexico State University in November of 1988. My salvation drastically changed my world view, and gave me new direction in my life. I graduated with a degree in Secondary Science Education in the spring of 1993 from NMSU.
"Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind" (Matthew 22:37). My philosophy on Christian education centers around the fulfillment of this command given by Jesus to man. Christian education should act in harmony with the goals of the Christian home and the Christian church.
The student should be taught all subject matter that reflects God's creation and his attributes. Students should study the Bible, and use verse memorization to place its truths on their hearts to fight against the temptations of sin. Christian education produces students who have convictions, who will grow into responsible adults, and who will serve God.

Psalm 127 reminds us that children are a blessing from the Lord while Deuteronomy 6 shows us that parents have the primary responsibility for their children’s growth and education. As educators, we have been entrusted with these precious lives as an extension of their parents. It is our privilege to teach, train, and care for them as we serve God and seek to glorify his name in all that we do and say and think. Every aspect of the education we provide must be based on the inerrant, inspired Word of God. Without this foundation, academic subjects fail to reflect the truth, beauty, and excellence of the Creator. Mesilla Valley Christian Schools is my first
full-time teaching job. I spent most of the past few years focusing on
being a stay-at-home wife and mom, though I did get some time in the
classroom as a substitute teacher. I believe that the Lord was waiting for
just the right time and place for me to begin a teaching career. I'm
thankful that Mesilla Valley Christian Schools was part of His plan for my
family and me

My husband and I have been married for 16 years and have three school-aged children. We make our church home at Mesilla Park Community Church.

I believe that, as a Christian educator, it is my responsibility to prepare
students to find their God-prepared places in the world. This means giving them a solid academic background and a firm Christian foundation on which to stand. When students leave my classroom, my prayer is that will have a
better understanding of the world God made for them and that they'll have learned to draw nearer to the Lord.

working on my Master's Degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Alabama.

I taught middle school and high school at MVCS for three years and am in my third year as librarian. My husband, Carlos, and I have been married for six years. We are members of Crossroads Church.

As a Christian school, we should be helping the students to grow in wisdom, and stature and in favor with God and men, just as Jesus did. In order to do that, we teach everything from a Biblical perspective rather than a worldly perspective. In everything we do, we strive to have an eternal focus, and to teach the children the same thing. We are so blessed to be able to do this freely and to be able to share just a bit of the love and mercy God has given us with our students.
